A Claude prompt generator that writes the structure for you

This Claude prompt generator turns a plain-language idea into a finished prompt written for Claude. Describe what you want, press build, and you get a prompt you can paste straight into Claude, with the task, context, requirements and output format already laid out.

It is the same Prompt Builder as on the main tool page, with Claude already selected as the target. If you are writing prompts for another assistant, the prompt builder lets you switch target, and there are separate pages for the Gemini and Grok prompt generators below.

Claude is trained to follow instructions closely when they are organised into clearly labelled sections, so the builder writes for it differently from a general-purpose prompt. It does not guess what you left out. When a missing detail would change the result, it leaves a short bracketed placeholder for you to fill in.

What the builder does for Claude

  • XML-tagged sections

Each part of the prompt goes in its own descriptive tag, such as <role>, <task>, <requirements> and <output_format>. Claude is trained to follow tagged sections closely, and the tags keep your instructions separate from any text you paste in later.

  • Only the sections the task needs

A short request gets a short prompt. The builder includes a role only if it helps, and never pads the prompt with generic lines like "be helpful".

  • Placeholders instead of guesses

If the idea does not say who the audience is or which language to use, the prompt carries a placeholder such as [YOUR AUDIENCE] rather than an invented answer.

  • Use case and detail level

Pick General, Coding, Writing, Marketing, Business or Research to focus the sections, and Concise, Balanced or Detailed to control how thorough the prompt is.

Claude prompt generator FAQ

What is a Claude prompt generator?

A Claude prompt generator writes a ready-to-use prompt for Claude from a rough idea. Cuelara's version uses an AI model to turn your idea into a prompt with XML-tagged sections, the structure Claude is trained to follow closely.

Why does the builder use XML tags for Claude?

When you pick Claude, the builder asks for each section to be wrapped in descriptive XML tags such as <role>, <task> and <output_format>. Claude is trained to follow tagged sections closely, and the tags keep instructions separate from pasted material.

Is this a Claude prompt builder or a generator?

Both names describe the same thing here. You describe the goal, and the tool builds the prompt. It does not run the prompt for you; you copy it into Claude.

Can I use the prompt in Claude Code or the API?

Yes. The output is plain text, so you can paste it into Claude chat, a system prompt or an API call. Check it and fill in any [placeholders] first.

Is the Claude prompt generator free?

Yes. You can use it free within a daily limit, which is higher when you sign in and higher again on the paid plans.

Already have a prompt? Rewrite it with the prompt optimizer, find what is wrong with it using the prompt debugger, or grade it with the AI prompt checker.
